There has always been something special about Fridays!
Traditionally chippies didn’t open on Mondays because the boats didnt go out on Sundays.
Even when frozen fish came in, Mum never let us have fish and chips on Mondays in case it was Saturday’s leftovers.
And she was always cross that when potatoes got dearer at certain times of year (just before the new potatoes season) they reduced the portion size, making it hard to judge how many portions to buy
As much as most of us always loved it, I bet we’ve all got that *one* time we had fish and chips that stuck in our mind!
