Eating like a king

There is an old motto that says ‘eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper’ this means it is wise to start the day with a large  cooked breakfast. in Ireland an traditional Irish breakfast consists of Rashers, sausages, eggs, pudding black or white (sometimes both) potatoes all of which must be fried it is served with homemade brown bread and washed down with a strong cup of tea using Barrys or Lyons teabags.

remember in the past we were a mainly farming country so this big breakfast was to prepare the farmer for a long cold day working on the farm, now a days we only eat this on special occasions like Christmas mornings, new years day and on lazy Sundays or whenever we stay in hotels some people even have it for dinners instead of breakfast then we call it a fry

so this is what i had for my new years day breakfast starting 2018 by eating like a king
